Some from Schrum…
Dear Friends,
Well it is now the fall season and
with all the kids heading back to school, a relief for some, a difficult time
for others as summer vacation comes to an end.
Sunday school will be starting on
Sept 14th after the church service. The teachers as well as the students are
looking forward to a fun and informative year. It is never to late to help out
so if you can see Julie Chandler, Ruth Joyce or me and we will gladly use your
talents.
No news on the city water we are
waiting for the development across the street.
Your vestry has hired a cleaning
service to help out the first week of the month cleaning the bathrooms,
vacuuming, mopping etc. both the church and the undercroft. This will start in
Sept. so do not be alarmed if you see someone different working at church
during the week.
If any one has anything, which
needs to go into the bulletin leave a note for me by Wed and I will do my best
to get the information in that Sunday. If there are concerns the Vestry needs
to discuss at a meeting please see any vestry member give a note to any member
so we can address your concerns and keep all informed. Thank You.

Warden

“Meet and Greet”
September 14th (Immediately following Mass)
We are very excited to
kick off this Fall with an awesome new program that the kids, as well as the
teachers are going to absolutely love!
We’re looking forward to a wonderful year, and can’t wait to get
started.
*Attention Parents* We need your support
in encouraging your children to attend Sunday School. We have a new and exciting curriculum guaranteed to hold their
interest. The children will be bringing
home study sheets to encourage your parental participation with them. If by
chance you cannot make it to church on Sunday, please contact one of the
drivers on the transportation list (included in this newsletter) and we’ll come
and get them. Thank you for your
continued support.
Church
Picnic September 28th Immediately following Mass
It’s THAT time again Saints!!! Time for our annual “Epis-co-nic.” Never heard that word before? Well it’s a good old fashioned “Episcopalian
picnic” with lots of food, fun, and fellowship! We ask that you invite your friends to church with you and bring
a dish to pass, the meat will be provided.
There will be several yard games for all ages, so wear something you’ll
be comfortable in, and plan on a great afternoon together.

Over the summer the ECW had a bake sale to feed hungry
children in America, and earned $125.00 for the cause. Great job ladies!!! Thank you to all of you who donated baked
goods and worked the at the bake sale.
Your generous donations of your time, treasure and talents are greatly
appreciated by those who are less fortunate. Thank you so much on their behalf.
Oct. 4th and 5 is Buckley
Homestead days again and we’ll be selling pasties, pies, pumpkin slices. We also need your help in donating a pot
full of “vegetarian” vegetable soup. We need men and women volunteers to work
that weekend (Setting up and taking down, manning the booths, as well as
serving the food.) If you cannot work the full weekend, then please come and
work a few hours, it’s a lot of fun and it will help us out greatly. *We will
also have a few workshops to prepare. Please watch the door for posted dates. Thank you to all & God bless.
Daughter’s
of the King
By:
Pres. Ruth Joyce
“Sisters in
Service” chapter of Daughters of the King will soon be a year old. We have
a very active prayer group going. We want to remind everyone that there is a
box placed on the frontal cabinet at the back of the church for any prayer
concern that you might have. No one but the members of the Daughters group see
these prayer requests unless one wants prayers from the entire congregation.
Again these prayer requests are confidential unless otherwise stated on the
request card.
Put November 22
on your calendar. The Daughters will be hosting a pre-Advent day of meditation
on the Eucharist. Bishop Ed Little will be here to present an instructed
Eucharist. For those of you who haven't had the chance to see and hear the
Bishop present the Eucharist you are in for a very spiritual time. This will be
preceded by some readings concerning the Eucharist and a time for meditation.
Following the presentation by Bishop Ed there will an Agape luncheon. The time
for the program will be approximately 9:30 A.M. until 2 P.M. All are invited.
It will be a great time to spend some time with the Bishop.

As you go through your
closets and pull out your winter clothes and find things you no longer need I
will be glad to take them to Father Phelps. If you have a surplus of linens,
especially blankets, I am sure that would receive a warm welcome.
Remember if you see a good deal on food cans with pop tops,
pudding or fruit cups please think of the mission. Articles may be placed in
the coat closet and if you have any
questions just ask me.
*This fall I will
be going to East Chicago, Father Phelps, on the third Wednesday of the month.
